In the summer of 1968, the Dallas Morning News and NorthPark Center teamed up for a special “Fly Your Flag” campaign. Between Flag Day (June 14) and Independence Day (July 4), members of the community could come to NorthPark and purchase the stars and stripes for $3.25. The Texas flag was even included for free!
The goal of the campaign was to make purchasing a flag, and showing your patriotism, quick and easy. The kit contained everything you’d need to properly display Old Glory in your front yard – a 3x5’ quality cotton American flag, a smaller Texas flag, a hardwood and brass staff, rope, all the nuts and bolts, and of course, instructions on how to put it all together.
Today, NorthPark proudly flies the American flag in two locations – at the Neiman Marcus entrance on Boedeker Street, and at the north entrance near Nordstrom.
NorthPark Center will be open from 10AM to 6PM on Saturday, July 4.
