Summer in Dallas is hot, but the recent spring/summer 2016 men’s fashion shows are even hotter. The collections have inspired me to pick out a few essential trends for this season. I spotted the top three trends and found the perfect must-have summer pieces to keep you cool. So bring on the heat!

The first summer trend that caught my eye is preppy summer plaids. Above are a few of my favorites from London Collections Men last week.

Get the look with a short-sleeve button down at Sperry ($65). This look can be fun and bright, but also toned down for those warm summer nights. Wear it open when at the pool or beach and button it up to go out.

The second summer trend is green shorts and pants from the Vogue spring/summer trend list. From military green chinos to olive shorts, green is in!

To help you stay cool this summer, I picked out two great short options. The first is the faded green short by AG ($125). The second is the vibrant military green short by J.Crew Men’s Shop ($69.50).

Lastly, we need to talk about shoes. After all, everyone needs the perfect summer shoe that has both versatility and style. On the runway, woven and patterned slip-on shoes were definitely a hit.

Shop the looks with these two great slip-on shoes, the perfect summer staple pieces. The woven navy leather sneakers by Bottega Veneta ($820) take a stylish twist on comfort, and the patterned slip-ons with a textured sole by CH Carolina Herrera ($270) are fun and playful.
