NorthPark Center is proud to host of the 2nd annual Room to Grow Luncheon and Fashion Presentation on Wednesday, April 18 at 11AM in the Neiman Marcus Courtyard.

This annual fundraiser will benefit Dec My Room, whose mission is to create a healing place for pediatric and young adult patients who are admitted to the hospital for an extended stay of 3 weeks or longer. This hands-on visual impact not only immediately enlightens the room but also the patient’s personality. It presents a unique opportunity for the volunteer interacting with the family and hospital staff and shows a patient that a stranger is willing to help them on their journey.

Dec My Room works closely with the hospital social workers to get a comprehensive idea of a patient's loves, passions and interests. Volunteers are provided this information and a budget of $300 to shop and then transform a normally boring hospital room into a comfortable and cozy space. A typical room is Dec’ed for children from age 3-19, which includes colorful bedspreads, themed shower curtains, fluffy pillows, soft blankets, whimsical wall decals, large posters, personalized picture frames and a sturdy fun tote that the children can use to take the items to their next destination, which could include a long term care facility, rehabilitation center, extended stay hotel close to the hospital or home.

The healing of a patient is often a multi-faceted process. Dec My Room positions itself to play a role in that process. It is a unique charity that creates an immediate visual benefit in a normal hospital room. Our organization supplements the overall healing process for the patient and their families when volunteers personalize their hospital room.

Chaired by Kim Bannister, Jamie Singer, and Andrea Weber with NorthPark Center chair Andrea Nayfa, “Room to Grow” will include a welcome reception followed by a seated luncheon and a presentation by Avril Graham, Harper’s BAZAAR Executive Fashion and Beauty Editor, and Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, Southern Living Editor-at-Large and NorthPark Ambassador, presenting the trending colors of spring fashion from Neiman Marcus NorthPark Center, followed by bubbles and sweets on Level Two of Neiman Marcus.

Tables for the Room to Grow Luncheon and Fashion Presentation begin at $2,500, with individual tickets at $175 each. To purchase tickets or for information about event sponsorship opportunities, please visit www.roomtogrowluncheon.eventbrite.com.
