NorthPark The Magazine: Opening Note

WORDS BY NANCY A. NASHER PRESIDENT AND OWNER, NORTHPARK CENTER

The promise of springtime signals fresh beginnings and the dawn of something entirely new. The irresistible lightness of this season is a common thread carried throughout our Spring/Summer 2018 issue of NorthPark The Magazine, highlighting the latest trends in fashion, handbags, shoes, accessories, beauty and makeup, as well as insights into the creative minds of designers Rebecca Taylor and David Yurman, and artists Thomas Houseago and Tracey Emin.

This season’s Art of Shopping campaign celebrates the beauty of fashion and the power of architecture as we spotlight six architecturally significant cultural institutions in the Dallas Arts District, including the Dallas Museum of Art, Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, Nasher Sculpture Center and Perot Museum of Nature and Science. These iconic Dallas architectural landmarks prove to be stunning backdrops to showcase our spring luxury fashions from BOSS Hugo Boss, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Canali, CH Carolina Herrera, Gucci, Mulberry, Neiman Marcus, Roberto Cavalli, Salvatore Ferragamo, Versace and more.

For this issue’s fashion shoot featuring NorthPark’s contemporary brands, we venture to the eclectic, soulful sanctuary of Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin, Texas, to capture the season’s expressive trends. We also explore today’s activewear from our vast array of athletic offerings, showcasing high-performance styles that work in the gym, on the streets or around the shopping center.

Spring is an especially vibrant season at NorthPark, when the talents of our award-winning landscaping team are in full bloom. April’s Spring at the Park celebration will inspire and delight our visitors with ornate botanical creations, floral fashions, garden parties, special exhibitions and other activities. The acclaimed Dallas photographer Geof Kern and the floral artisans of Bows + Arrows collaborate to create spectacular oral creations for our shoe and handbag feature, which can also be viewed in a photography exhibition this spring at NorthPark.

Art, culture and community remain priorities for NorthPark, and we are thrilled to broaden our involvement with Dallas’ bustling art scene. NorthPark will host MTV RE:DEFINE in CenterPark Garden on April 13 benefiting the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and Dallas Contemporary. Jessica Nowitzki gives us a preview of this important art auction and gala honoring the groundbreaking British contemporary artist Tracey Emin. NorthPark will also present our third annual free Concert Under the Stars showcasing the artistic excellence of the Dallas Symphony led by the world-renowned Music Director and Maestro Jaap van Zweden in CenterPark Garden on April 21. In addition, NorthPark will present a new musical sculpture by artist Sebastien Leon in SouthCourt in collaboration with the SOLUNA International Music and Arts Festival.

We sincerely hope you enjoy our Spring/Summer 2018 issue of NorthPark The Magazine and look forward to welcoming you to NorthPark where fashion, culture, art, community and dining come together in one destination for all to experience.
