Behind the Brand: OMEGA

Swiss watchmaker OMEGA has chosen NorthPark Center as the first site in Texas to display its sleek new store design.

The complete renovation of the 10-year-old boutique “aims to lift the retail face of OMEGA to a new standard of luxury,” the company says.

In-house designers achieved its minimalist, serene style by pairing zebra wood paneling and furnishings with champagne accents, distinctive light fixtures and the brand’s signature red carpet.

The boutique showcases all four collections—Constellation, De Ville, Speedmaster and Seamaster—of the legacy watch brand with a history of innovation and precision.

OMEGA’s hottest new launch is the Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades collection, which offers the iconic watch in a colorful new range of dials for men and women.

Inspired by the ocean and earth, hues in the Aqua Terra Shades collection include Atlantic Blue, Lagoon Green and Terracotta. OMEGA currently offers this collection only in its boutiques—not on its website.

The Aqua Terra collection features sleeker cases than the iconic Seamaster that has been linked with James Bond films and actors for nearly 30 years. Those have a more rugged look characterized by a diving scale bezel that well suits the spymaster.

OMEGA traces its heritage back to 1848, when artisan Louis Brand began making key-wound pocket watches in a small Swiss village.

His two sons expanded the business by creating an in-house manufacturing system that built a line of watches under the OMEGA brand. It was so successful that it was spun off as the OMEGA Watch Co. in 1903.

The company grew rapidly through a series of acquisitions and mergers and came under the umbrella of The Swatch Group, the world’s largest watch company, in 1984.

Long heralded for accuracy, OMEGA has been the official timekeeper of the Olympics since 1932. Visit the store on Level One between Neiman Marcus and Dillard's to see OMEGA’s famed fusions of beauty and precision.
