L’Occitane en Provence, a purveyor of luxury treatment, bath, and body products with enchanting botanical aromas, has completely rebuilt and transformed its NorthPark store into a “Sunshine” space. Decorated in golden yellow, cream, and earth tones, this serene haven is an inviting space for shoppers to test L’Occitane’s deliciously-scented and sustainably-sourced soaps, scrubs, fragrances, and creams.
There are plenty of sinks and seating areas for experiencing the French brand, including a unique “Personal Beauty Concierge,” a cozy lounge where clients can get comfy as they receive skin care consultations.
NorthPark is the only store nationwide with this type of seating area. It’s rimmed with perforated gold screens and grounded by an inlaid wooden floor with radial spokes that evoke the sun. The space will also host special events. The “Sunshine” store conveys a fresh feeling of modernity and conviviality, says Paul Blackman, Vice President of Design and Construction.
“Entering the store, the customers will discover a communal concrete sink,” he explains. “This is where they begin their L’Occitane discovery journey. Soaps, scrubs, and hand creams offer a fun and engaging experience as an introduction to the sensoriality of this magical brand.”
Beyond that is a communal table where shoppers can sit as they investigate L’Occitane’s acclaimed skin care products. Don’t miss the signature Shea Butter Hand Cream ($29), which sells at the remarkable rate of 20 per minute worldwide, or the Immortelle Divine Cream ($110), a firming, anti-wrinkle, and radiance moisturizer that has a devout following.
Provence native Olivier Baussan established L’Occitane in 1976 when he began selling distilled rosemary oil. He expanded into soaps and creams, always highlighting the natural flora of Provence and France. Today, L’Occitane works with 130 farmers in Provence and Corsica. The company is committed to fair trade, sustainable sourcing from seed to finished product, and recycling. In fact, you’ll get a 10 percent discount on a new product when you bring a used full-size L’Occitane container back to the boutique for recycling.
