The first thing that catches the eye when entering the NorthPark La Duni is their striking display of their extravagant wedding cakes. Lining the wall from top to bottom, these edible works of art are adorned with flowers, meringue and intricate designs beyond belief. The artist is none other than the co-owner and executive pastry chef, Dunia Borga.
Dunia conducts her business with brides on a personal level from the beginning. She hands out her personal business card so that anyone who is interested in ordering a wedding cake begins by contacting her directly. They then meet in person to sample flavors and customize the cake exactly to their liking. Whether it be choosing a cake from their line or completely creating their own, “the sky is the limit.” She compares the process to picking out the wedding dress: some brides come in knowing exactly what they want, some have no idea, and some just need to see the right one. Every step of the process is face-to-face and personal up until the cake is delivered by Dunia herself.
In addition to the wedding cake, La Duni can also create additional treats and party favors, such as place settings with toffee or customized petit fours, to name a few.
So what is it that makes La Duni especially distinct? Each cake is uniquely made to the likings of the customer and, most importantly, Dunia puts a little bit of her passion into them as she makes someone’s dream a reality for their big day. Not only have these cakes been apart of weddings, but they have even led to future cakes for baby showers, birthday parties, and everything else that follows “I Do.”
