Chris Byrne is a curator and the co-founder of the Dallas Art Fair, an annual event benefitting the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Dallas Contemporary. Located at the Fashion Industry Gallery, the 2017 Dallas Art Fair will feature prominent national and international art dealers and galleries exhibiting painting, sculpture, works on paper, photography, video and installation by modern and contemporary artists from Thursday, April 6 – Sunday, April 9.

Chris Byrne is also the author of the tour de force graphic novel "The Magician" (Marquand Books, 2013) intricately produced with 12 books and found in prestigious national collections including the Library of Congress and The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Thomas J. Watson Library. He remains active in organizing lectures and gallery shows in New York, London, and beyond.

But the time and energy he spends in Dallas is exemplified by his work with Dallas Contemporary. Completing his second three-year term on the museum’s board (and second year serving as part of the Executive Committee), Byrne established an artist-in-residence program at his East Hampton home, the former working studios and dwellings of Elaine de Kooning and John Chamberlain, to introduce program to further the mission of Dallas Contemporary. Resident artists, selected with the help of the museum's Senior Curator Justine Ludwig, have included artists such as Sadie Laska, Joe Bradley, and Kim Jones. “I've really enjoyed working with Peter (Doroshenko) and Justine and watching this local kunsthalle's exhibitions and programs develop and progress—Black Sheep Feminism was a highlight."

Byrne is the co-chair of Art21's Contemporary Council. He also serves on the American Folk Art Museum’s Council for the Study of Art Brut and the Self-Taught.

NorthPark is thrilled to sponsor the Dallas Art Fair and support Byrne’s philanthropic efforts in the arts. Be sure to experience the Dallas Art Fair for yourself! Click here to learn more.
