Our poor little feet take quite the beating in the winter months. They get stuffed into boots, tights, and thick socks all season long, without a thought of any TLC. But ladies, April is here and it’s time to book that pedicure appointment.
NorthPark Center has its very own nail salon on level two near Macy’s. Avalon Lifestyle Nail Salon is the place to go to rejuvenate your feet. Their signature spa pedicure, $42, includes a glycolic and paraffin treatment to soften calluses. If you’re feeling tense, go for their hot stone spa pedicure, $52. Warm, smooth stones are rubbed all over feet and calves to release stress and relax the muscles.
The best part of getting a pedicure is picking out a color (besides the massage, of course)! All of our anchor stores – Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Macy’s and Dillard’s - have a wide selection of polishes to choose from. It’s important to pick a shade that suits your skin tone and personal style.
A fresh pair of sandals is a great way to show off your spring-ready toes. Jack Rogers, available at Nordstrom and Dillard's, are some of my personal favorites. The Navajo sandal, which was often seen on Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, looks elegant in soft metallic gold. Give these classics a pop of color with Essie’s Turquoise and Caicos.
The latest in sandal trends is the Birkenstock – yes, the 1970s staple is back! If you’re more of an edgy gal, snag this pony hair Steve Madden version. Not only are they comfortable, they’re actually achieving two trends at once in shape and color. Black and white was seen all over the runway for spring 2014. Continue the graphic theme with a sleek white, like Deborah Lippmann’s Amazing Grace.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, pretty pastels are also a trend right now. Aldo has a t-strap thong sandal with a dainty charm on the ankle strap. The pale blue would look great with dark jeans now and white dresses later. The more pastels, the better - Yves Saint Laurent Beaute’s Rose Romantique is the perfect feminine pink for your toes.
For the minimalist needing to update their shoe collection with a splash of color, look no further then J.Crew’s Maya sandal. The paired-down flat gets a boost in a vibrant poppy shade (which they call “Belvedere Red”). Because these sandals are particularly bright, opt for a neutral polish, like Chanel’s Frisson.
So go ahead, treat yourself to your first pedicure of 2014. Your feet – and brand new sandals – will thank you! Call Avalon at 214.378.1099 to book your appointment.
