Save the Date for Tax-Free Shopping

Summer is almost over and school will soon be in session.  Before the kids head back to school, there is an important weekend you’ll want to put on your calendars.  Tax-free weekend, also known as the state’s annual tax holiday, will take place August 8-10, 2014.  As in previous years, you can save about $8 for every $100 you spend on important essentials for back to school, such as clothing, footwear, and backpacks priced under $100.  On top of those savings, many retailers will be offering their own special discounts.  Here is your go-to guide for back-to-school, tax-free savings from NorthPark Center.

Clothing and Footwear

Now is the time to stock up on school clothes and shoes as most of these items will qualify as tax-free.  You will save on such items as pants, shirts, dresses, sweaters, tennis shoes and dress shoes. Accessories such as jewelry, purses and watches will not qualify for the discount. NorthPark Center is a one-stop shop for all the coolest styles for school from Billabong, Nike, Vans, XXI Forever, Hollister and more. These Nike Free Express Girls’ Running Shoes qualify at $85, and comes in a variety of colors.

Bags and Backpacks

It’s always fun for kids to pick out their own bags for school. It gives them an opportunity to show off their personal styles and interests. This weekend only, bags and backpacks qualify for tax-free savings as long as they are backpacks, messenger bags, or bags with wheels.  Great selections are available from Nordstrom, Macy’s, Gap, Delia’s, and The North Face.  This Recon Squash Backpack from The North Face qualifies at $55, and comes in a variety of colors.

Extended Hours

There’s even more time to get your back-to-school shopping done with extended hours at NorthPark Center.  NorthPark will be open from 10 am to 10 pm on August 8 and 9, and from 11 am to 7 pm on August 10.
