Spring Break Essentials

Spring, we’ve missed you! While it is still quite cold here in Dallas, perhaps you are jetting off to warmer temps for spring break. The much-anticipated week off is this month for many North Texas schools and colleges. Make sure you are prepared for sunny days spent on the beach with these essentials from NorthPark Center.

Mar Y Sol Caracas Tote ($115) – available at J.Crew

First things first: you need a great beach tote to stash your things in. Look for something that is cute but not too precious, like this weaved straw tote from J.Crew. Size is important, too – it’s big enough to fit all these essentials as well as your towel.

Florabella Medium Brim Hat ($120) – available at Everything But Water

Protecting your skin from the sun is so important all the time, but especially when you’re at the beach. If you aren’t the best at reapplying your sunscreen, be sure to bring along a hat. Everything But Water has a great selection of beach-ready hats. This one has a wide brim to shield your face as much as possible.

Ray-Ban Original Aviators ($169.95) – available at Sunglass Hut

Sunglasses do double duty. They are stylish and protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays. Aviators with mirrored lenses are the hottest trend in sunglasses this year. Sunglass Hut carries them in several colors, including the pretty rose-hued ones shown above.

Henri Bendel Wet Bikini Bag ($38)

If you plan to sneak in one last morning by the pool before hitting the road, pack a wet bikini bag. These cute little pouches store your swimsuit without getting the rest of your clothing wet in your suitcase. It has a polka-dotted, terrycloth fabric on the outside and a waterproof lining inside.

PINK Water Bottle ($14.95)

Keeping your body hydrated is key when spending hours at the beach. And no, we don’t mean hydrating with a few Piña Coladas! Before hitting the sand, fill up a cute water bottle from Victoria’s Secret PINK. They come in several colors with different beachy motifs.

Kiehl’s Sun-Free Self-Tanning Formula ($22.50)

If you want to get a little glow before your vacation, use a sunless self-tanner from Kiehl’s. It’s the safest way to get that gorgeous golden tan! Rub it all over a few days before leaving and it will leave a natural tan without any discoloration. Toss it in your bag just in case you need a touch-up or to blend in any tan lines.

Supergoop Continuous Must Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($13)

A hat, UV-protected sunglasses and a sunless tan are all great ways to prevent skin damage, but the best way is to use sunscreen! Nordstrom carries Supergoop, a line of sunscreens that all have complete broad-spectrum protection for a full 80 minutes in the water. This formula won’t dry out your skin or leave an oily residue.
